Performances:

Following, you will find the Chorus Concert dates for the 2019-2020 school year. These required performances are designated as curricular activities and are therefore mandatory for all chorus members.  Attendance and participation at the performances are a significant part of the student’s grade for that grading period. The only excused absences are personal illness (absent from school) or a family emergency. In the event of an excused absence, Mrs. Sagerstrand must receive written notice from the parents. The student will then complete an alternate performance assignment when they return to school.

BOYS: Black pants and a white shirt, dark shoes

Course Selection:

Students will be most successful if they remain in the same course for all four years at Saxe. However, if a student wishes to change music courses at the end of fifth grade, the student and/or parent must contact their current music teacher no later than June 1st of their 5th grade year.  Changes will not be made after June 1st of the student's 5th grade year. The student must meet with both the current music teacher and the teacher of the new, desired course to discuss course expectations and requirements which will ensure that the student will continue to be successful in the Saxe Music Program. After sixth grade, students are required to remain in their music courses through the end of eighth grade.

The procedure to change courses for 5th grade students only is as follows:

1.    Parent emails the current music teacher.

2.    Current music teacher responds with information and to advocate for what is believed to be the best course for the student’s success.

3.    Parents talk to student and student sets up a meeting with the current teacher, prepared to explain why they wish to (or not to) make the change.

4.  Current music teacher sets up a meeting for the student with desired new course’s teacher. That teacher will assess the student to determine whether the course is an appropriate choice and provide the student with information about curriculum and expectations for entering the new course.
